fort and beans

Our life here often requires adaptability (as I've written about) and creativity (which feels so much like adaptability lately). Without playgrounds, malls, community centers, parks, walking trails, bike trails, or countless other "things" we might find to amuse ourselves on a lazy Saturday afternoon we are often forced to improvise.

Last weekend, tired to visiting the same two (small) playgrounds and having finished all the groery shopping we needed to do (which least gets us out of the house), dad (aka. Tim) came up with two new ideas: fort building and bean tossing.

Both turned out to be great fun.

  1. I love it! I seem to recall three kids who used to relish time in a host of various forts; made from sheets, snow, cushions, sleeping bags . . . . Great fun one and all. As for the beans, THAT'S a new one! Very creative Tim, very creative. A great trait for a great dad!

  2. Thanks dad. I too remember really enjoying our time in forts- one of my favorites was that little blue Tipi (so uncreative, though, isn't it. It's not even one that we built!) Maybe Uncle Aaron can show Eleanor some of his fort-building skills at your house this fall.

  4. And Kiyah, the tipi is still with us! We'll have it "at the ready" for Eleanor in October! I'm sure Aaron can out-perform that old stand-by however!
